We should get going- it's getting dark, and there could be bandits about. I hope you're a good protector! I've got a lot of tax money to transport!"<br>

It is slow going, and the trip is made even more miserable by Leo's constant high-pitched singing and his endless stories about distant relatives, architecture, government affairs, and small town customs like sheep-tossing and yodeling techniques.<br>

You could use a break from Leo's current story about paper-making techniques in the suburbs of Irongate, but at the same time getting to Moonbright is a priority- and besides, the sooner you get to Moonbright, the sooner you get to be rid of this guy once and for all.<br>

[[Continue|moonbright]]Night falls as you travel deeper into the woods. After an hour of chopping your way through weeds and vines you come to a fork in the road. You've passed this way before, but it's been many years.<br>
[[Continue|splitpath]]The path to the left leads to a canyon. The only way to cross the canyon is over a rickety bridge, which may no longer be there. The canyon is home to a monstrous species of fire-breathing rats.<br>
The path to the right leads to a cave. It has long been known that the Spider Queen and her spawn live there. It is a dangerous path to take, but if you don't encounter any spiders it may be the quicker path.<br>

[[Continue|canyon1]]You decide to head through the cave. It doesn't take long to reach it. It is nearly midnight, but the interior of the cave seems to be illuminated by some sort of phosphorescent fungus clinging to the walls and ceiling.<br>

You arrive at the canyon and find that the rickety wooden bridge is still intact. There are no rats in sight, so you begin to make your way across the bridge.<br>
You're about a third of the way across when suddenly you hear a chorus of shrill squeals. At that moment a whole host of FLYING fire-breathing rats rise up from the darkness of the canyon below and surround you! This is even worse than you feared!<br>

Upon entering the structure you find yourself standing in a small stone chamber. At the back of the room is a statue of Bonefreak, but it’s been worn away by the weather to the point that it just looks like a goblinoid lump of stone.<br>
There is a bird’s nest on one of his shoulders and some cracked eggs on the floor but it looks like the birds haven’t lived here in weeks. The walls are also etched with runes but they’ve been eroded away so much by the elements that they’re unreadable.<br>
