You must complete 8 laps of the circuit in the fastest possible time. Make sure you don't miss any checkpoints along the way, or you'll have to turn back. Watch out for the other cars, things can get nasty.

There are special powerups along the track - press the 'shift' key to release them. You can only have one power up at one time.
